Enforcing Penalty For Defaulting Employers Effective 1 Jan, 2017

The Fiji National Provident Fund has urged all employers to take advantage of the penalty waiver period which will end on 31 December 2016.

Chief Operating Officer, Mr Jaoji Koroi said the penalty waiver was introduced to allow employers to update all outstanding contributions and comply with registering all new or existing employees.

“Employers are responsible to pay members contributions no later than the last day of each month. Employers that do not pay contributions are liable to be penalized at $100 per employee per month,” Mr Koroi said.

As at 30 November 2016, unpaid contributions totaled $8.3million accounting for 1,613 defaulting employers.

“Employers who also have not registered with the Fund and have not paid any contribution should take advantage of this grace period.

“Hence, the reminder that all employers can still take advantage to settle all their outstanding contribution before 31 December 2016.”
